Green Tea Smoothie

Green Tea Smoothies ~ are not only delicious, but they’re chock full of nutrients and so many health benefits; especially when you add a ‘super-food’ or two, some healthy fats, and a few organic fruits and vegetables.

I use to make my Green Tea Smoothie with Matcha tea, but because I have not yet been able to find a quality Matcha tea outside of Japan, and since the Fukushima accident I no longer buy tea from Japan(1) ~ I now make it differently.

I brew up a small pot of loose leaf green tea(2) using twice the amount of tea I normally would. I steep for the same amount of time (as I do not want the tea to become bitter), and I use this green tea as the base for my smoothie.

Here are a few of my own concoctions. If you don’t like anything, just leave it out, and if you want your smoothie sweeter, add a couple of extra de-pipped dates, a pinch of stevia, or a teaspoon of coconut sugar.

Golden Spice, Green Tea Smoothie ~ serves two

  • 1 glass of cooled green tea
  • 1 glass of coconut or almond milk
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 dessertspoon of coconut oil
  • 1 dessertspoon of maca powder(3)
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

    • Hi Ahmuu, down the bottom of the blog, link (2), I have suggested which teas on my site work well for the smoothies. There are pictures of the tea, including the leaf, if you check the link. I am particularly partial to sencha as a base, but I think it is a matter of a personal taste. Many blessings… :-))

  • Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Safari.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let
you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you
get the issue fixed soon. Many thanks
